Shaniwar Wada, located in Pune, India, is a historic fort and palace that served as the seat of the Peshwas (rulers of the Maratha Empire). Built in 1732, it was initially a grand seven-story structure but was partially destroyed by fire in 1828. The fort is a significant landmark and attracts tourists for its architectural beauty and historical importance. 

 

 

He Sarsangchalak Balasaheb Devras Aviation Gallery in Pune is a unique, multi-storeyed aviation museum located in Shivajinagar Gaothan, behind Congress Bhavan. Established by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), it aims to educate the public—especially students—about the history, science, and careers in aviation and aerospace.

  • First Floor: Exhibits on the evolution of aviation from ancient times, scale models of aircraft, Air Force documentaries, helicopter models, and information on space science.

  • Second Floor: Replicas of Indian Air Force aircraft, a miniature airport layout, and an aerial view of Pune captured via drone.

  • Third Floor: Displays on aeromodelling, paramotoring, and aerospace technologies.

  • Additional features include a small auditorium for educational shows, a cozy waiting area, a café, and a computerized ticketing system that accepts both cash and mobile payments.

    Shaniwar Wada was built by Bajirao I in 1732 as the capital building of the Peshwas. It was a 13-story palace originally, with security as a primary focus. The fort was later destroyed by a fire in 1828. 

  • Architecture:

    The fort exhibits a mix of Maratha and Mughal architectural styles. It features a main entrance called "Delhi Darwaja" and other entrances like Ganesh, Mastani, Jambhal, and Khidki.

    Inside, one can find Ganesh Mahal, Rang Mahal, Aarsa Mahal, Hasti Dant Mahal, and Diwan Khana. There are also fountains and a statue of Bajirao I on horseback in front of the fort.
